Body of missing man found under Asan bridge in Dehradun

A 32-year-old man who was reported missing was found dead under a bridge over the Asan river in Dehradun on Sunday. The deceased has been identified as Mahendra Singh, a resident of Bhudpur Nayagaon in the Patelnagar area.

According to the police, information was received at Nayagaon outpost about a body lying under the suspension bridge on the Asan river. A police team from Patelnagar reached the spot and started an investigation. During inquiry, the body was identified as that of Mahendra Singh, who was reported missing on March 20.

The police informed the family members and carried out necessary legal procedures, including post mortem examination. A mobile forensic team was also called to the spot and the scene was examined along with photography and videography being carried out at the scene. During the search, a blade and a pesticide tablet were found in the man’s pocket.

According to officials, doctors suspect that the death may have been caused due to consumption of a poisonous substance. Family members told police that Singh worked as a dumper driver but had no work for the past few days. They also said that he had been drinking alcohol heavily. Police said the case is under investigation and further action will be taken based on the post mortem report, which is expected to reveal the exact cause of death.
