Technical experts of the Bridge, Ropeway, Tunnel and Other Infrastructure Development Corporation of Uttarakhand Limited (BRIDCUL) have ascertained that the alignment of the Surakanda Devi ropeway was out which resulted in technical faults in the cable and the wheel. The BRIDCUL team will inspect the ropeway again after the operating agency repairs the faults, only after which will the resumption of its operation be allowed.
It will be recalled that the ropeway to Surkanda Devi had stalled on Sunday leaving 36 people including the Tehri MLA Kishore Upadhyay stuck in trolleys for about 20 minutes. The administration had stopped operation of the ropeway and sought help from BRIDCUL experts to ascertain the problem. The technical experts inspected the ropeway on Monday and also checked the standard operating procedures for it. The probe ascertained that the problem on Sunday was caused by faulty alignment.
BRIDCUL ropeway inspector Kundan Singh informed confirmed that the technical inspection has ascertained that fault in the alignment had caused the snag in the ropeway on Sunday.
