After bridge on a seasonal stream Jumma on the Malari Highway was washed out in the wake of a sudden flood, bringing the movement on the India-China border to a standstill, the Border Roads Organisation (BRO) has started its work to build an alternative route to facilitate movement of the people living in a dozen villages situated in Niti valley near the China border.
A boulder was found trapped in the Jumma bridge in the evening after a sudden flood came in the stream and later, around midnight, the bridge was swept away by the torrents. As this is the only bridge connecting the border villages situated in Niti valley near the India-Tibet border with the country, over a dozen villages have been completely cut off from the rest of the country.
The BRO officials, engaged in building the alternative route, said that they are trying to complete this work at the earliest.
