Brother and relative arrested for killing girl in Haridwar village

In the case of a minor girl being murdered in Laksar area allegedly by her family members, the police have arrested her brother and his brother-in-law. The girl’s brother had allegedly strangled her to death due to a love affair with a youth of the village. After this, he, along with his brother-in-law, kept the body in a sack and threw it in the Ganga river.
Laksar Kotwali in-charge Yashpal Singh Bisht said that the police case was lodged on August 9 on the basis of a complaint lodged by Monu Chauhan, a resident of the village of the area. It was stated that he had an affair with a girl from the village. This was known to her relatives. Stating that the girl had been missing for some time, the young man had expressed apprehension of something untoward happening to the girl. After registering the missing person case, the police started an investigation. Meanwhile, the police received information about the girl’s relatives going to the Ganga with a sack. On suspicion, the police conducted a search operation in the Ganga area with the help of State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) personnel. On August 12, the body of the teenager was recovered from the Ganga in a sack. After this the missing person case was converted into a murder case. The inspector said that in the case, the police team questioned the relatives of the deceased teenager. During interrogation, her brother Ravi said that after knowing about the love affair, he tried to convince his sister but she was not ready to leave her boyfriend. Disturbed by the public opinion about the matter, he strangled her to death. After this he gave this information to his brother-in-law Bunty. The brother in-law reached the village and both of them took the girl’s body in a sack on a bike and threw it in the Ganga. The police also recovered the bike used in the incident. After interrogation, both the accused were produced before the court and sent to jail.
