PIONEER EDGE NEWS SERVICE/ Dehradun

In the ongoing process of the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the electoral rolls in Uttarakhand, the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP), Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and CPI-M have fared very poorly in appointing booth level agents (BLA). In comparison, the ruling BJP and opposition Congress have performed excellently in making BLAs.

The additional chief electoral officer (ACEO), Uttarakhand VK Jogdande informed the mediapersons on Saturday that there are 11,733 polling stations in Uttarakhand and the BJP has so far appointed 70 BLA-1 ( one in every Vidhan Sabha) and 11,504 BLA-2. Similarly the Congress has appointed 69 BLA-1 and 11,105 BLA-2. He said that while BJP has appointed 98 per cent BLA-2, the Congress has so far appointed 95 per cent BLA-2. In contrast, the AAP which is one of the five recognised national parties in Uttarakhand has failed to appoint even a single BLA-1 and BLA-2. Similarly, the BSP has appointed 11 BLA-1 and 115 BLA-2 while the CPI-M has appointed 24 BLA-1 and 378 BLA-2.  The ACEO appealed to all recognized political parties to appoint 100 per cent BLAs.

He said that out of 79,60,762 voters in the State, the enumeration forms of 70,98,501 voters have been digitized. The ACEO informed that the draft electoral roll will be published on July 14, 2026. After this the voters can file objections till August 13.  He informed that the notice period and disposal of claims and objections will be from July 14 to September 11. The final electoral roll will be published on September 15.
