Following the direction of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the interim budget for 2024-25 aims to achieve developed India status by 2047, the chancellor of Swami Rama Himalayan University (SRHU) Vijay Dhasmana said. He said that the budget represents a solid vision for a prosperous and inclusive India, fulfilling the aspirations of all segments of society and contributing to the overall development of the country. The budget outlines a roadmap for progressing towards the goal of creating a developed India, he said.
Further, Dhasmana said that the budget explicitly addresses the four vital segments of society- the poor, farmers, youths and women. Strengthening all four segments is crucial for achieving a developed India. Additionally, in response to the Covid crisis, the government has made significant efforts in the health sector. The budget provides for the establishment of a new committee to facilitate the addition of new medical colleges, aiming to not only strengthen the healthcare system but also address any existing gaps, such as the shortage of doctors across the country, he said.
He further emphasised that the budget has also prioritised women’s health. This includes the implementation of a government-run vaccination programme to prevent cervical cancer. Additionally, the allocation of budget will promote innovation and contribute to the growth of the startup sector in the country, Dhasmana said.
