Budget directionless, retrogressive: Yashpal Arya

Leader of opposition in the Vidhan Sabha, Yashpal Arya has termed the State budget- 2025-26 as directionless, retrogressive and the one which lacks vision. He told The Pioneer that the budget speech of the Finance minister was high on rhetoric and less on substance.

Arya said that the debt on the State in the year 2016-17 was Rs 35,000 crore which has now increased to Rs 95,000 crore. He said that the Finance minister has ignored the youth, farmers and deprived sections of the society in the budget. 

Terming the budget as the old wine in a new bottle, the LoP said that the aspirations of the people of the State have been totally neglected in it. He added the budget makes no mention of many of the promises made by the State government in the past. Arya said that poor financial management of the State government is getting reflected in the budget and the State is getting caught into a debt trap.
