Budget estimation for blood bank at district hospital presented to Health department

In order to establish a blood bank at the Deen Dayal Upadhyay District Hospital, the Peyjal Nigam has submitted a budget estimate of Rs 1.42 crore to the Health department. Stating this, senior pathologist at the district hospital Dr JP Nautiyal stated that a meeting was recently held with the Health secretary R Rajesh Kumar, hospital officials and Peyjal Nigam officials, the executing agency selected for the blood bank project. During the meeting, Peyjal Nigam officials presented the blood bank map to Kumar for review. After examining the map, Kumar instructed the executing agency representative to make necessary adjustments to enhance the blood bank facilities for patients.
He further added that following this, the officials from Peyjal Nigam presented a budget estimate of Rs 1.42 crore for the blood bank construction. The Health secretary reassured them that the budget would be reviewed during construction and adjusted as needed, regardless of whether it falls below or exceeds the initial estimate. The establishment of the blood bank is expected to take six to eight months, he added.
Nautiyal further highlighted the requirement of 2,000 square feet of land for a blood bank according to guidelines. However, due to limited space at the district hospital, the blood bank will be established across two floors.
It will be recalled that following the district magistrate Savin Bansal’s directive, the hospital administration has submitted the blood bank proposal to the State administration. The proposal was approved a few days ago. Additionally, the state administration has recently issued a tender for the blood bank construction to the agency Peyjal Nigam. Earlier the medical superintendent of the district hospital Dr VS Chauhan informed that once the blood bank is established, they will promptly request the necessary officials for the license.
