Former secretary of Uttarakhand Congress Mahesh Joshi has said that the state government should focus on increasing sources of income in the upcoming budget 2024-25. He said that the fiscal deficit is consistently increasing which is negatively affecting the economy of the State. Joshi opined that the tourist spots in the state should be upgraded for increasing income from tourism.
Similarly, religious tourism also holds potential for the State. The Congress leader said that the work on hydropower generation should be done to fulfill the potential in the field and make the State a ‘power State’. He said that the agriculture and horticulture sectors should be promoted and the budget should have provision for increasing self employment opportunities for women.
