Building house in U’khand to cost more as building materials’ prices soar

In latest Uttarakhand news, if you are planning to build your own house in the State it may cost you more than earlier. The costs of sand and gravel are rising. With the mining materials becoming costlier, building a property here automatically becomes costlier.
As the supply of sand and gravels to other states has stopped, their prices have been impacted. As per information received, gravels are sold in Dehradun at Rs 400 per tonne and sand at Rs 700 per tonne. Notably, there has been 20 to 40 per cent increase in the prices of sand and gravel in the past one month in Dehradun. Not just this, even the price of bricks is on the rise.
In Chamoli district, the prices of sand, gravel and brick vary from one region to another. One month back, one thousand bricks were sold for Rs 10,000. Now, the rate has risen to Rs 12,000 per 1000 bricks. Along with bricks, sand and gravel have become more expensive in this district.
The situation is the same in New Tehri. A tonne of sand is sold for Rs 3000. A month back, the price was in the neighbourhood of Rs 2,800. At present, 1000 bricks are sold at Rs 11,000. Earlier, the price was Rs 10,500.
In Haridwar, one month back, sand was sold at the price of Rs 60 per quintal. Now the price has shot up to Rs 75 per quintal. The price of gravel has increased, too. Earlier, it cost Rs 55 per quintal, but now it has gone up to Rs 70 per quintal. In case of sand, the price has been hiked by Rs 1200 per 1000 pieces of bricks. At present, 1000 bricks are priced at Rs 7200.
