Bus carrying 28 pilgrims overturns in Uttarkashi, no casualty reported

A bus carrying 28 pilgrims from Madhya Pradesh overturned on the Gangotri national highway on Friday. The accident affected the traffic on the road for about four hours. All passengers were safe except five people who sustained minor injuries in the mishap as per the officials. They informed that these pilgrims had visited Yamunotri Dham on Thursday and were going from Uttarkashi to Gangotri by bus on Friday morning. According to the officials, the driver reportedly lost control of the bus near Jhala on the national highway and it overturned on the road.
Though no loss of life was reported, the highway remained blocked for about four hours which severely affected the traffic. During this period, there was a long queue of vehicles on both sides while the Border Roads Organisation (BRO) was carrying out the process of removing the bus from the road through the machine, the officials said. They also informed that the BRO also made arrangements for pilgrims to reach Gangotri Dham and all reached there safely. The authorities are yet to ascertain the cause of the accident, as per the officials.
