A businessman in Ramnagar went missing in dubious circumstances on Monday and his wife later got a call seeking Rs 10 lakh in ransom. Pankaj Bansal’s wife Reena Bansal lodged a police complaint stating that her husband, who trades in gold, had gone on a two-wheeler to Kashipur with Rs 10 lakh on Monday. She called her family members when her husband didn’t return home late in the evening while also attempting to search for him. The man’s two-wheeler was found abandoned near Haldua and the bag he was carrying the cash in was found empty at the site along with his mobile phone. The complainant said that a message was received from her husband’s mobile phone seeking Rs 75 lakh ransom to get her husband released. The police said that a case has been registered based on the complaint. Suspects have been taken into custody for questioning. The police are conducting proper combing and search operations to trace the businessman. The police said that the actual details of the case will be known after the businessman is rescued.
