With just a couple of days left for campaigning for the Bageshwar Assembly by-election, the Bharatiya Janata Party will intensify its campaigning from Saturday. The chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami and the BJP State president Mahendra Bhatt are slated to campaign in the constituency on Saturday and Sunday. Meanwhile, the BJP reiterated that the Congress is complaining about alleged harassment during the campaigning in Bageshwar as it is searching for excuses for its impending defeat in the by-election.
The BJP State media in-charge Manveer Singh Chauhan said that the chief minister and the BJP State president will be campaigning in Bageshwar on September 2 and 3. He said that the party candidate Parvati Dass is receiving overwhelming support from the voters in the constituency. Chauhan claimed that the people have made up their minds to ensure a record breaking win of the BJP candidate in the Bageshwar Assembly by-election. Regarding the complaint of the Congress about alleged harassment and misuse of the government machinery by the BJP in the Bageshwar constituency, he opined that true to its habit, the Congress is already looking for excuses to blame for its impending defeat in the Assembly by-election.
It is pertinent to mention here that senior Congress leaders including the Pradesh Congress Committee president Karan Mahara and leader of opposition Yashpal Arya have campaigned elaborately to garner support for the party candidate Basant Kumar. The Congress has repeatedly accused the BJP of misusing the government machinery to gain an edge in the Assembly by-election while the BJP has consistently rejected all such allegations. With voting in the by-election slated to be held on September 5, the campaigning will end on September 3.
