The Bharatiya Janata Party has claimed that the law and order situation in the State is good and that all criminals are facing the law. The BJP State media in-charge Manveer Singh Chauhan said that the shootout in Raipur cannot be linked to the State’s law and order situation. Three suspects are already in police custody and all the accused will soon be nabbed, he said, while adding that the accused are not protected but are nabbed by the authorities under the government of chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami.
Chauhan said, “Earlier, the criminals got protection from those in power but now they face action. Goons from other States also rethink before committing a crime in Uttarakhand. The CM has kept the police and other investigation agencies free of undue pressure and they are delivering results. The mafia threatening people and grabbing property are behind bars. Even those accused are today in jail whom the past governments could not even think about acting,” Chauhan said.
He alleged that whether it be the incident of officials being run over by a dumper, the illegal nexus at the police station level for illegal mining or the direct approach of the mafia to police posts- all took place during the term of the Congress government. The mafia had created an atmosphere of fear in the State. The grabbing of properties of the general public based on forged documents was taking place on the directions of those in power at that time, he alleged.
