Case registered against horse/ mule operators for assaulting Kedarnath pilgrim

While the senior administrative and police officers are alert to ensure that those on pilgrimage to Kedarnath Dham feel safe and no one misbehaves with the pilgrims, an incident of a lady pilgrim being abused and threatened by the horse/mule operators has come to the fore.  

It is learnt that a devotee from Mahipalpur Delhi on Kedarnath Dham Yatra registered a complaint at Sonprayag police station, alleging that that on June 10, she had been abused and even threatened by some horse/mule operators near the Bhimbali bridge when she was taking the bridle path from Gaurikund to Kedarnath. As per her complaint, she was abused and beaten up and they even asked her rudely to leave Uttarakhand immediately.

The complaint was registered on 12 June at Sonprayag police station. Acting on the complaint, police started investigation and the complaint was registered under relevant sections of IPC at Sonprayag police station. During the investigation, five accused have been identified and necessary legal action has been initiated against them. The five accused are all from Rudraprayag district.

The department concerned is considering cancelling their licenses issued by the police for operating horses/mules on the Kedarnath route.
