After the protest of Congress leader and Kichha MLA Tilak Raj Behar and locals, a case was registered against the suspended station house officer of Pantnagar police station Rajendra Singh Dangi late on Wednesday. Dangi was suspended a week ago after an audio clip of his conversation with a 20-year-old woman went viral in which he was allegedly making sexual advances towards her while pressurising her to meet him alone. According to officials, there was a dispute between two families in the Pantnagar police station area. The police sent a man and his daughter to jail in the case. Subsequently, the second daughter of the man reportedly approached the police multiple times seeking action in the case. During her interactions, she came in contact with the SHO who reportedly started making advances towards her instead of addressing her complaints. He engaged in obscene conversations with the young woman, according to the claims. The woman then recorded the conversation with the SHO and sent it with a complaint to the Kichha MLA. The senior superintendent of police of Udham Singh Nagar Manjunath TC suspended the officer after director general of police Abhinav Kumar’s order. However, no case was registered against the accused officer in the matter. The MLA and some locals staged a protest in heavy rain in the SSP office premises on Wednesday morning. The SSP appealed to Behar and others to stop the protest while assuring that appropriate action will be taken in the matter. A case was finally registered against Dangi late on Wednesday. The DGP also recently issued an order to all districts in-charges to take strict action against those police officers and personnel who are found to be behaving inappropriately and indecently with females.
