The cath lab inaugurated in July at Government Doon Medical College (GDMC) hospital has now become fully functional. Associate professor of GDMC Dr Amar Upadhyay informed that the cath lab which was earlier inaugurated by the Union Health minister Manshukh Mandaviya in July at GDMC hospital has become fully functional. He said that since the inauguration they have performed more than 200 cardiac angiography and more than 50 cardiac interventions for inchemic or conduction system problems. He added that the cardiology department of GDMC hospital is the only centre with a house rotation atherectomy system.
He further informed that he has innovated a new technique of conduction system pacing for cardiac synchronization which is innovative plus economical and avoids the use of a very costly pacemaker.
Further, the principal of GDMC Dr Ashutosh Sayana informed that super speciality services in other branches are also in the process of being started in other branches. Apart from this, GDMC hospital is also trying to meet the expectations of people living in mountainous regions, he added.
