Andhra HC Registrar filed FIR against influencers
The CBI on Friday arrested six more accused persons in an ongoing investigation of a case related to making derogatory posts on social media against judges and the judiciary.
The accused arrested in the case are Sridhar Reddy Avuthu, Jalagam Venkata Satyanarayana, Guda Sridhar Reddy, Sreenath Suswaram, Kishore Kumar Darisa, alias Kishore Reddy Darisa, and Sudduluri Ajay Amruth.
The agency said the arrested accused will be produced before the competent court.
The CBI had registered a case on November 11 last year against 16 accused and took over the investigation of 12 FIRs from CID of the Andhra Pradesh Police in pursuance of the orders of Andhra Pradesh High Court. The High Court had directed the CBI to probe the matter in response to a writ petition filed in 2020.
The original FIRs were registered on the complaints from the Registrar General of the Andhra Pradesh High Court.
“It was alleged that the key personnel occupying posts of prominence in the State of Andhra Pradesh by intentionally targeting the judiciary, made derogatory posts on social media platform against judges and judiciary following some court verdicts delivered by the judges of High Court of Andhra Pradesh,” the agency has said.
“Action was also initiated by the CBI, after it had registered this case to get objectionable posts removed from the social media platforms, public domains and a lot of such posts/accounts were removed from the Internet,” the agency said in a statement.
During investigation of the case, the CBI had earlier arrested five accused and also filed five separate chargesheets against them.
“Investigation is continuing, including through the channels of Mutual Legal Assistance Treaty (MLAT) and Interpol to collect evidence from abroad,” it added.
