Central teams assess damage in Uttarkashi and Chamoli

The Inter-Ministerial Central Team (IMCT) visited disaster affected areas of Uttarkashi and Chamoli districts on Monday to assess the damage caused by recent disasters in these parts of the State. The IMCT headed by Government of India joint secretary R Prasanna reached Harshil where the Uttarkashi district magistrate Prashant Arya informed it about the casualties, damage to buildings, crops, orchards and business premises.
The team visited Dharali, Mukhba and Harshil villages. While gauging the damage, the team members also sought information from the local administration. The affected locals also shared their views with the team while seeking employment, rehabilitation and a compensation package. Prasanna said that the entire report based on inputs from the local administration will be submitted to the Centre and the relief package will be decided on this basis.
In Chamoli district, the IMCT conducted a site inspection of affected areas. The team visited Chepdo, Koddeep, Radibagad, Dewal and other disaster-affected areas of the district. District magistrate Sandeep Tiwari informed the team at a meeting about the department-wise damage caused by the disasters. Departmental property worth about Rs 11.50 crore had been damaged by the disasters, he said.
