Centre grants five-year renewal of forest clearance for four rivers

On the request of chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, the forest clearances for four rivers of Uttarakhand- Gaula, Sharda, Dabka and Kosi have been renewed for the next five years. The CM thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union minister for Environment, Forests and Climate Change, Bhupender Yadav for the development.Dhami said that availability of riverbed material (RBM) from these rivers is very important for civil construction works and major infrastructural development works like expansion of road and rail network vital from religious and strategic points of view. This will also provide employment to about 50,000 locals and labourers, added the CM.
It will be recalled that Dhami had met Yadav in the national Capital on February 18 and had requested for renewal of forest clearances related to four rivers in the State. It is in response to this request that the Centre has renewed the forest clearance for Gaula, Sharda, Dabka and Kosi rivers for the next five years.
