In an appreciable initiative the chief education officer Dehradun, Govind Ram Jaiswal has banned the use of mobile phones by teachers during teaching in all the schools of the district.
It has been observed that mobile phone use has become common not only among children but also among adults and its addiction has hampered classroom atmosphere with teachers using it during class.
In an order, Jaiswal stated that following complaints received from various sources and during inspections, it has come to light that in some schools teachers are unnecessarily using mobile phones in classrooms during instructional work, disrupting the teaching-learning process.
“Therefore, keeping in view the academic interests of students, it is ordered that teachers working in all government, private and aided non-government schools in Dehradun district will not use mobile phones while teaching in class. Limited use of mobile phones will be permitted only for extremely essential and educational purposes. Violation of this order will invite action as per rules against the concerned,” he stated.
The order further stated that all block education officers and deputy education officers will ensure strict compliance of the order in all schools within their respective development blocks. The order will be effective immediately.
