CEO directs DEO to probe and act on Congress complaints regarding MCC violation in Bageshwar by-poll

The chief electoral officer V Shanmugam has directed the Bageshwar district election officer Anuradha Pal to investigate the complaints made by the Congress regarding telecast of the live telecast of the Assembly’s proceedings on the first day of the motion session in which tributes were paid to the late Bageshwar MLA Chandan Ram Dass and the full-page advertisement of the BJP candidate Parvati Dass published in Kumaon editions of prominent newspapers.
Shanmugam has written to Pal stating that the Congress had complained on September 5 regarding the telecast of the condolence motion in the Assembly on the day of polling in the Bageshwar by-poll. The party has stated that this is a violation of the model code of conduct.
The Congress had also complained that full-page advertisements of the BJP candidate were published in the Kumaon editions of three prominent Hindi newspapers on September 4 and 5 in violation of the model code of conduct. Pal has been directed to investigate the complaints and take necessary action as per the rules.
