Parties asked to shun use of single-use plastic in campaign
Chief electoral officer BVRC Purushottam held a meeting with representatives of all political parties in view of the ensuing Lok Sabha elections. He appealed to the political parties to cooperate as expected for successful conduct of the parliamentary elections. The political parties were also asked to abstain from the use of single use plastic in the campaigning process for the elections. They were informed in detail about nomination of candidates, manifesto and the Election Commission guidelines during the imposition of the election model code of conduct.
The political representatives were also told about provisions regarding expenditure on rallies of star campaigners, road shows and other programmes during the election campaign. Purushottam also appealed to all the political parties to motivate the citizens to vote in order to increase the voting percentage in the State. He assured them that the CEOs office will fully cooperate with any political party requiring any kind of information or for the solution of any problem faced during the election process. The CEO appealed to the political parties to cooperate in the efforts to make the State plastic-free by shunning the use of single-use plastic in their campaign material.
The assistant CEO Mastu Das informed the political representatives in detail about the responsibilities and other aspects related to the election process. Political representatives of all recognised parties and registered parties in the State attended the meeting.
