Dehradun based collective of environmentally concerned citizens- Citizens For Green Doon (CFGD) has reported attempts online to spread disinformation and malign it. The group stated that a “false and malicious campaign is underway against CFGD with morphed picture and concocted lies”.
The group stated that a tweet displaying a photoshopped pic depicts CFGD as against construction of border roads in Uttarakhand and insinuates that the group is anti-national. “CFGD is not against construction of border roads nor is it anti national. We are proud citizens of Mother India and stand by our brave Indian army. We are for sustainable, motorable and scientifically constructed roads. The tweet wrongly attributes a statement to our counsel Colin Gonsalves. It further tries to give our case a communal colour by making up a fictitious counsel Mohd Aftab. CFGD has no counsel by that name nor do we know any person by that name.
Further, this handle drapr007 goes on to share an edited pic of the group from a completely unrelated event. The genuine picture shows the group with a placard stating ‘come join CFGD’. The tweeted picture shows the placard stating ‘No road on Indo China border’. We at CFGD have faith in our judiciary and our governance. A formal complaint has been lodged to the cyber cell by the CFGD and all possible legal action will be taken against such miscreants,” the group stressed in a statement.
It is pertinent to mention here that the CFGD is active on the environmental front and is a petitioner in the Supreme Court citing environmental concerns in the manner of construction of the Char Dham all-weather road project.
