Acting on the directive of the SSP Dehradun Ajai Singh, a joint team of Kotwali police and fire department conducted raids at several factories and godowns of Deepawali firecrackers as well as shops and stalls selling them on Friday and slapped chalans worth Rs 70,000 under Police Act on those found making and selling unlicensed firecrackers. Besides, eight shops were shut down. The places in the city the team conducted checking drives in included Paltan Baazar, Hanuman Chwok and Dhamawala Baazar. They urged the firecracker sellers to sell only the licensed ones in strict adherence to the rules.
