In latest news from Doon, the State administration has suspended the president of Chamoli district panchayat Rajnai Bhandari. As per the suspension order issued by the secretary Hari Chandra Semwal, she had misused her power and favored bidders in the tendering process in contravention of rules at the expense of the State exchequer. The order cited the investigation report submitted by the Gawhwal commissioner and said that Bhandari had given contracts to bidders with higher quoted prices while rejecting those who quoted lower prices. As per the allegation levelled against her, tendering irregularities happened in 30 out of 64 tenders opened by the State tourism department ahead of the Nandadevi Raj Jat Yatra in 2012/13 at her behest.
