Chamoli tragedy: condition of two injured critical

The condition of two injured in the electrocution incident at Peepalkoti in Chamoli district, admitted in the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) Rishikesh continues to be critical. On Wednesday, six injured in the accident were admitted to the institute. Following the orders of the chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami five more injured were airlifted from Gopeshwar hospital to AIIMS Rishikesh.
The trauma surgeon of the institute, Dr Neeraj Kumar said that all the injured are undergoing treatment at the trauma ward of AIIMS Rishikesh. He said that the condition of Sandeep Kumar and Sushil continues to be critical. The doctors had to amputate the right hand and right leg of Sandeep Kumar as they were severely burned. His kidney function has been affected and he is on a ventilator. Dr Kumar said that Sushil has sustained injury in his head due to which he is losing consciousness however his condition improved on Thursday. Both these critically ill patients are admitted in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of the institute. The condition of the other injured is stable and they are out of danger.
On Thursday the health minister Dhan Singh Rawat, Karnprayag MLA Anil Nautiyal and Yamkeshwar MLA Renu Bisht visited AIIMS Rishikesh to inquire about the condition of the injured.
