In latest Uttarakhand news, the Champawat district magistrate Navneet Pandey stressed on strengthening surveillance at the ultrasound centres to stop female foeticides. He said that such prenatal sex screening tests must be stopped. This aside, the district administration will be organising mass awareness campaigns among the people against the practice of female foeticide to right the sex ratio imbalance in the district, the DM said. He gave these directives while chairing a review meeting at the collectorate auditorium focused on the works of the Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao task force. He further laid emphasis on skill development programmes and adventure sports being organised to empower the girls appropriately.
