Champion hospitalised with stomach issues

Former Khanpur MLA and Bharatiya Janata Party leader Pranav Singh ‘Champion’ was admitted in the district hospital after suffering gastrointestinal issues late on Saturday night. He has been in judicial custody after the incident which saw him and his supporters firing rounds at the residence of Khanpur MLA Umesh Kumar on January 26.

According to sources, the doctors at the district hospital conducted ultrasound scan, x-ray, ECG and pathological tests on the former MLA to diagnose his health problems. The results of some of the tests are awaited and the doctors will decide on whether to refer him to a higher centre after receiving these reports. Meanwhile, a team comprising the district hospital’s chief medical superintendent Dr Vijayesh Bharadwaj, physician Dr Manish, Dr Swati Verma and Dr Pankaj are treating Singh. He was reportedly still suffering from the health issue till Sunday afternoon and is reported to be suffering from colitis and gastroenteritis.

The Haridwar chief medical officer Dr RK Singh said that some of the test reports are awaited and the exact line of treatment will be decided based on all the reports. A team comprising physicians, surgeons and others are looking after the former MLA. A clearer picture will be arrived at after all the medical reports are received by Monday afternoon, he added.

The Roshanabad jail superintendent Manoj Arya said that Singh was being provided with bottled water and meals were being prepared as per his requirement.
