Chandigarh University launches CUCET in Doon

The pro-chancellor of Chandigarh University (CU) RS Bawa launched Chandigarh University Common Entrance Test (CUCET-2022) in Dehradun on Monday offering scholarships worth Rs 45 crore. He inaugurated the online portal www.cucet.cuchd.in where students can register and choose slots to give the test for the scholarships.
Addressing mediapersons in Press Club, Bawa said CUCET-2022 is an entrance-cum-scholarship test that offers students up to 100 per cent academic scholarship in any course of their choice. He also added that the university will also provide scholarships to students like children of Covid warriors from a sanitation worker to a doctor, army personnel and mediapersons among others. Bawa said that CU provided scholarships to 13,000 students last year and since its inception, it has provided scholarships to over 63,000 students under CUCET with an aim to help every student to get higher education.
He also said that students from Uttarakhand in CU have excelled in campus placements and 240 students of the state have bagged jobs in top multinational companies (MNCs) like Google, Microsoft, Amazon and Wipro among several others in the past year. Out of these students, 84 are female students, he added. He also said that about 114 start-ups have been established by young entrepreneurs of the university in the past few years and nine of these start-ups have been set up by students belonging to Uttarakhand. Bawa also stated that CU will become the first university in Northern India to launch its own in-house developed nano-satellite-Chandigarh University’s Student Satellite (CUSAT), after Prime Minister Narendra Modi will launch it on the eve of 75th Independence Day. He said, “This satellite will prove to be vital for the country to collect weather and natural disaster forecasting related data which will help states like Uttarakhand which are prone to natural disasters due to geographical structure.”
