The Uttarakhand Char Dham Teerth Purohit Mahapanchayat has warned that it will take legal action against film actor Urvashi Rautela if she does not withdraw her recent statement and issue a public apology.
The actor had reportedly stated that the Urvashi Mandir near Badrinath is named after her. The Mahapanchayat has also urged the government to take action against her. The general secretary of the Char Dham Teerth Purohit Mahapanchayat, Brijesh Sati said that the temple located near Badrinath is traditionally dedicated to the presiding deity of the region and holds religious significance. He said that associating it with a film personality spreads misinformation and misleads the public.
Sati said, “A video of Rautela making the claim has gone viral on social media. In the same statement, she also said that since she is working in South Indian films, she hopes temples will be built in her name in that region as well. We strongly object to these remarks. These statements are inappropriate and appear to be made for publicity. If Rautela does not retract the statement, we will file a case against her in court.”
The Mahapanchayat has also urged the State government to take action against her.
