Char Dham Yatra: Health check-up of 46K pilgrims done so far: minister

 The Health minister Dhan Singh Rawat has said that a health check up of 46,000 pilgrims has been done so far during the Char Dham Yatra. He added that more than 10,000 pilgrims have availed the benefit of the OPD.  The minister said that the Char Dham Yatra is in full swing and lakhs of pilgrims from different parts of the country and world are visiting the State for the Yatra. He said that more than one lakh pilgrims have so far visited the Yamunotri and Gangotri shrines and the number of pilgrims visiting Badrinath and Kedarnath has crossed 1.25 lakh figure mark.  The minister averred that the State health department is vigilant regarding health of the Yatris and  health check up of more than 46,000 pilgrims who are more than 55 years of age has been done.

A total of 10,385 pilgrims have availed the benefit of OPD while 661 have got emergency treatment in the health units set up along the Yatra route. Two pilgrims who were critical have been airlifted to the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) Rishikesh while 33 pilgrims were taken to higher centres by Ambulances.  Rawat said that 48 permanent and 23 temporary health units have been set up on the Yatra route and 29 specialists and 182 medical officers have been deployed in these units.  Rawat further informed that 95 POCT devices have been installed on the Yatra routes by which the ECG of the pilgrims and their oxygen level and blood pressure are being monitored.  In the health centres on the Yatra route 182 staff nurses and 90 pharmacists have been deployed. The department has also deployed 200 ambulances on the Yatra route which includes 96 ambulances of the health department and 77 emergency ambulances (108 service). Eleven blood banks and two collection centres are also functional on the Yatra route and the Government Medical College Srinagar, Government Doon Medical College, Dehradun and AIIMS Rishikesh are kept on alert to meet any emergency situation.
