Charge only tuition fee for lockdown period: Govt to schools

Clearing confusion on the fees being charged by the schools, the state administration made it clear on Monday that the schools can charge only the Tuition fee for the period of lockdown. In an order directed to Director General (DG) school education the education secretary R Meenakshi Sundaram on Monday that the state government had given permission to the schools for starting physical classes for the students of VI, VII, VIII, IX and XI classes from February 8 this year. He said that the schools can charge complete fees of the period after the aforementioned date and they should charge only the tuition fees of the period when only online classes were being organised by the schools. Sundaram said that the schools which are only conducting online classes should charge only tuition fees. He further added in the order that the schools should consider the requests of parents to deposit the due fees in installments.
It is worth mentioning here that the many parents and their associations were complaining regularly that many schools are forcing the parents to deposit the pending fees and some schools are also demanding complete fees of the lockdown period from them.
