Chief secretary Radha Raturi has said that the process of birth and death registrations should be made very simple so that the people do not face any problems for these certificates. She reviewed the process of the birth and death registrations at the State secretariat on Monday.
In the meeting the CS directed the officers to take strict action in the cases of fake birth and death certificates. She said that both these certificates are an important document for various schemes of the government and for works such as getting admission in school, getting widow pension and receiving life insurance amount. The CS said that it is seen that sometimes people fall into the trap of fraudsters and get fake certificates in exchange of money but later they have to face difficulties. Apart from this, many cases of fake websites similar to the official website of the Government of India for birth and death registration have also come to light, she added.
The CS also appealed to the public to be cautious of such fraudsters and contact the registrar of their area only for getting the certificates made. She said that a new portal (dc. crsorgi.gov.in) has been launched by the Government of India to prevent fake cases of birth-death registration and to simplify and strengthen the registration process for the general public. Any member of the family can apply for registration of birth or death in the family by creating his ID on the portal from home. The application is accepted and a digital certificate is issued when the concerned registrar is satisfied with the documents attached with the application. A copy of this digital certificate issued is also immediately available on the email ID given by the applicant, which he can download and use at any time. In the meeting the CS also emphasised on publicity of the facility so that the general public gets its benefit.
Senior officers of Health and Family welfare, Panchayati Raj, Revenue, Urban development departments attended the meeting.
