Children should be aware of morals & self-defense: Khanna

The chairwoman of the State Commission for Protection of Child Rights (SCPCR), Geeta Khanna emphasised on the need to educate children about morals and self-defense. She said this during a workshop that was organised in Haridwar on Tuesday.
The workshop took place at the DAV School in Haridwar district, with participation from students of about 260 private schools in the district. The aim of the workshop was to prevent increasing criminal incidents involving children, child exploitation and child labour in the state.
Addressing the gathering on the occasion, the SCPCR chief stressed on the importance of the all-round development of children, Gurukul education, the country’s rich history, education of Sanatan Dharma, moral education and self-defense. She also suggested that workshops like these should be organised in schools from time to time to provide children with necessary information about the Right to Education Act, POCSO Act, PTA, grievance cell, child helpline number- 1098, as well as the contact details for the SCPCR.
