The State Women Empowerment and Child Development (WECD) minister Rekha Arya said that children should be aware of their rights and responsibilities while speaking at a one-day workshop organised by the State Commission for Protection of Child Rights (SCPCR) here on Wednesday.
Addressing the children present, she said that the future of civil society and the nation largely depends on how they build their personalities until they reach the age of 24. “It is, therefore, essential for the children to imbibe the culture they are born in alongside their education,” she added.
During the event, the minister felicitated the students who had performed exceptionally well in various sports and educational events.
Additionally, the SCPCR chairperson Geeta Khanna enlightened the participants about the Right to Education (RTE) Act and traffic rules during the programme. A SCPCR member Deepak Gulati stressed that society must become more sensitive to the child rights. “A safe and healthy environment for every child is essential to lay the foundation for a bright future for the country,” he added.
