Children’s ICU to operate soon in Premnagar

PNS | DEHRADUN

The government hospital in Premnagar is set to enhance its medical services with the upcoming inauguration of a paediatric intensive care unit and the commencement of surgical operations. This development follows swift approval and funding by the Dehradun district magistrate Savin Bansal during a meeting of the hospital’s management committee on Monday.

In the meeting, all five proposals related to the hospital’s infrastructure and operational upgrades were approved on the spot, with directives issued for immediate action and reports on progress, as per the DM. He said that the hospital has already taken significant steps towards implementing these decisions. To facilitate the operations in the newly constructed operation theatre, orders for installing two OT lights have been issued through the Government e-Marketplace (GeM) platform. Besides this, work orders have been released for constructing a dedicated guard room and repairing the existing water tank.

Bansal said that a canteen is also being established within the hospital premises considering the needs of patients and their attendants. The tendering process for the canteen has been completed and the construction work order has been issued, he added. He also stated that the Paediatric ICU’s establishment has necessitated an increase in the hospital’s electrical load from 50 kW to 100 kW.

This upgrade has been facilitated by the executive engineer of Uttarakhand Power Corporation Limited (UPCL) Mohanpur Premnagar and administration has already been issued via NEFT. The DM said that these improvements display a significant enhancement in the medical infrastructure at Premnagar hospital, promising better healthcare facilities and services for the residents.
