In latest news from Doon, in a significant move, the district magistrate Savin Bansal passed an order entrusting the work of repairing the defunct street lights across the city to the Dehradun Municipal Corporation while taking it away from the Energy Efficiency Services Limited (EESL). The trigger behind this move is the increasing number of such non-functional street lights and the lackadaisical attitude of the company concerned to have these repaired. However, the task of installing new street lights will rest with EESL till the end of December 24.
A civic body team comprising 35 employees will now embark upon the task of repairing the defunct street lights on an emergency basis.
