Students of private and government universities, colleges and institutes can continue their education through offline and online mode amid the scare of the Covid-19 pandemic in Uttarakhand.

The State minister of higher education, Dhan Singh Rawat informed this on Sunday while stating that the State Government took this decision so that students’ education does not get affected due to the increasing Covid-19 positive cases in the State. He said that the students of science stream and practical subjects can continue their classes in their respective education institutes while the students of non-practical subjects can receive education through online classes. Rawat said that the vice-chancellor of universities would supervise that students receive education through both modes without any hindrance and would report to the State administration every month.

Similarly, the principals of government colleges would present their report to the director of higher education every month who would supervise the online and offline classes at the college level across the State and would report to the administration every month too, informed Rawat. The State minister of higher education said that he has ordered the chief secretary to issue all these instructions to ensure students receive education during the pandemic. Besides this, Rawat informed that 96 colleges out of 106 colleges in the State have been connected with 4G connectivity and the remaining colleges would be connected by April 30.

According to him, the government has provided a total of 14 basic facilities in colleges and universities for students like computers, e-library, smart classes, e-board and modern pieces of equipment for laboratories.
