Keeping in view the winter tourism in Uttarkashi district, the district administration is now conducting an intensive cleanliness campaign in the gram panchayats which witness tourist footfalls during the winter months. As instructed by the district magistrate, a roster was prepared for each block according to which the employees working for GPs will run a one-day cleanliness drive.
The block development officer, Bhatwari, Amit Mamgain directed all the panchayat officials to take part in the cleanliness drive in Malla village in compliance with the roster. Yuvak Mangal Dal and Mahila Mangal Dal also conducted cleanliness drives in the village roads as well as the National Highway. The garbage
collected under the Swachhata Abhiyan is being sent to the recycling centre, said the GP officials.
