Clear weather conditions likely in most parts of U’khand on polling day

Clear weather conditions are likely to prevail in most parts of the State on April 19, when the voting for the five Lok Sabha constituencies of Uttarakhand will be held. The additional chief electoral officer (ACEO), Vijay Kumar Jogdande informed media persons on Tuesday that the department of meteorology has predicted that on April 19, light rainfall is likely to occur in some areas of Pithoragarh, Pauri and Nainital districts while clear weather will prevail in other districts. He said on April 17, clear weather conditions will prevail in the State while on April 18, light rainfall is likely to occur in Uttarkashi and Pithoragarh districts. Jogdande added that the weathermen have informed that there will be no effect of heat wave in the State with normal temperature conditions likely in all parts of the State.
The ACEO said that a sum of Rs 16.05 crore has so far been seized in the State since March 16 under the Election Seizure Management System (ESMS). The seizure includes Rs 5.70 crore cash, narcotics of value Rs 3.99 crore, liquor worth Rs 2.93 crore and gold and other valuables worth Rs 3.26 crore. In the Lok Sabha elections of 2019, seizures worth Rs 8.81 crore were made in the State.
Jogdande said that maximum seizure (Rs 8.43 crore) has occurred in Haridwar followed by Nainital ( Rs 1.83 core) and Dehradun ( Rs 1.58 crore).
He further informed that the Uttarakhand Police have done maximum seizure in the State followed by the Income Tax and excise department.
The ACEO informed that 11 polling parties of Uttarkashi district and one polling party in Pithoragarh district left for their destination on Tuesday. All these polling parties have informed about their departure to their polling stations and registration on the Poll Day Monitoring System (PDMS).
