CM appeals Pravasi Uttarakhandis to contribute in development of State

Chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has said that people of Uttarakhand origin have created a special niche for themselves in fields of education, research, bureaucracy, film making and industry both at national and international levels. Addressing the Pravasi Uttarakhandi Sammelan held at Doon University auditorium on Thursday, the CM said that the culture of Uttarakhand is unique in itself and Pravasi Uttarakhandis are promoting their language and culture in various States of the country.
The CM said that in the last three years, he has got the opportunity to meet people of the State settled in many states of the country and felt that the Uttarakhand always remains inside their hearts.
Dhami said that the conclave is an effort to reconnect everyone with the soil of Uttarakhand. “In this gathering all the migrant brothers and sisters will not only be able to communicate with the State officials but they will get an opportunity to meet other Pravasis living in different States. I am confident that the message emanating from here will reach millions of people of Uttarakhand origin,’’ he said.
Dhami said the State is playing an important role in fulfilling the resolve of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to make India a developed nation by 2047.
He said that under the leadership of PM Modi, the infrastructure of all major sectors including education, health, connectivity, and drinking water is getting rapidly strengthened in the State. The work on Rishikesh-Karnprayag rail line is also progressing rapidly and at the same time the air connectivity is being strengthened.
The CM added that by bringing more than 30 new policies, Uttarakhand has been made conducive for investment and employment generation.
He said that the State government has taken many historic decisions in the interest of the state. The UCC law will be implemented in the state soon and the country’s toughest anti-copying law, anti-conversion law and anti-riot law have been enacted by the State. The State government has freed more than 5,000 acres of government land from illegal occupants across the State.
The CM averred that the State is in the category of achievers in ease of doing business and leaders in startup ranking. The unemployment rate has decreased by 4.4 percent in one year. A new film policy has also been approved to promote film production in the state, in which provision has been made to give many types of subsidy for shooting films in the state, he said.
The CM appealed to all the Pravasis to visit their village and ancestral home at least once a year and contribute to the development of their region according to their expertise. Former CM Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank said Uttarakhand is progressing rapidly in every field.
Lucknow mayor Sushma Kharkwal said that it is her good fortune that she got the opportunity to attend the Pravasi Sammelan. Actress Himani Shivpuri said that regional films should be promoted in the state.
Union Commerce secretary Sunil Barthwal said that the idea of migrants adopting their own village is very commendable. Chief secretary of Rajasthan, Sudhansh Pant said that a commendable initiative has been taken by the CM Dhami to connect Pravasi Uttarakhandis to their motherland.
MLAs Vinod Chamoli, Banshidhar Bhagat, Kishore Upadhyay, Savita Kapoor, MLA and Pravasi Uttarakhandi Surendra Maithani, chief secretary Radha Raturi and a large number of Pravasi Uttarakhandis attended the conclave.
