CM Dhami among early voters

While peaceful polling is underway for the five Lok Sabha seats in Uttarakhand since 7 am, the chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami was among the early voters. Accompanied by his mother and wife, he arrived at the Nagra Terai polling station in Khatima of Udham Singh Nagar district and then was found standing in a queue to cast his vote. “Uttarakhand has been witnessing unprecedented development during the two terms of the Narendra Modi government and this accounts for the huge enthusiasm discernible among all sections of voters who are out to help Modi hit the hat trick,” he said.
Former CM and BJP candidate from Haridwar Trivendra Singh Rawat also cast his vote along with his wife and two daughters. He exuded confidence that the he was going to have a landslide victory with five lakh margin. BJP national spokesman and Pauri Garhwal candidate Anil Baluni also displayed the same confidence after casting his vote.
Election officials said that voting at 11,729 polling stations began at 7 am and would continue till 5 pm. Fool-proof security is in place to ensure free and fair polling in the State. Apart from 40,000 police, home guard and Prantiya Raksha Dal personnel, 65 companies of central paramilitary forces have been deployed. While there are 1,365 polling stations categorised as critical 809 have been marked as vulnerable, said the additional chief electoral officer of the State Vijay Kumar Jogdande. The State has over 83 lakh registered voters and the electoral luck of 55 candidates in the fray is being decided.
