With the assembly elections in five States scheduled to be held later this year the colossal election machinery of the ruling BJP has come into an active mode. Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home minister Amit Shah, BJP president JP Nadda, Uttar Pradesh chief minister Yogi Adityanath, cabinet ministers and other senior leaders of the party have started touring the election bound states of Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Rajasthan, Telangana and Mizoram. The party has also roped in the Uttarakhand CM Pushkar Singh Dhami in the campaign for the crucial assembly elections being dubbed as semi-finals for the next year’s parliamentary elections. Dhami left on a three-day tour of Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan on Tuesday morning where he is scheduled to address many public meetings. On Tuesday he addressed public meetings at Navodaya school ground Khurai and Beena in MP. On Wednesday the Uttarakhand CM will land in Rajasthan where he will address public meetings in Deeg, Ramganj Mandi, Modak, Sangod, Devli and Kaithoon.

The party sources claim that the stature of Dhami is rising at the national level and the central leadership of party has included him as one of the star campaigners for the upcoming assembly election. They point out that the decision of the Uttarakhand CM to implement Uniform Civil Code (UCC) and his action against land jihad has made him popular throughout the country. It is learnt that the party units of election bound states are seeking Dhami’s programmes.

“Dhami has created a special identity at the national level by taking many important and major decisions. By implementing the country’s strictest anti-copying law, he made Uttarakhand a model for other states. The law prohibiting religious conversion has also become an example for other states. Similarly he is the first CM of the country to take a decision to implement the Uniform Civil Code. Dhami is young, energetic and has remained non controversial and these virtues of his are being recognised by the party leadership. His stature in the party is on an upswing,’’ said a BJP leader.
