After giving a message of encouraging public participation in controlling forest fire while chairing a meeting with senior officers of the State administration, chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami collected Pirul (dried Pine needles) in a forest in Rudraprayag district on Wednesday. Pirul is highly inflammatory and is one of the major causes of forest fire in Uttarakhand. In a message the CM said that the Yuvak Mangal Dal, Mahila Mangal Dal and other self help groups should come forward in collecting the Pirul from the forests on a large scale. He said that the State government is also working on a mission ‘Pirul Lao, Paisa Pao’ ( bring Pirul, get money). The Pirul will be collected at a rate of Rs 50 per kg at Pirul collection centres and a corpus of Rs 50 crore has been kept for the purpose.
