Chief minister Tirath Singh Rawat digitally transferred Rs 90.24 crore for the first quarter of 2021-22 to three-tier Panchayats under the state finance commission on Tuesday. This amount includes Rs 27.20 crore for Gram Panchayats, Rs 20.40 crore for block Panchayats and Rs 42.64 crore for district Panchayats. Speaking on the occasion, Rawat said that the amount is being digitally transferred to the Panchayats to enable timely execution of development works along with Covid related works for the safety of the villagers and maintaining facilities in quarantine centres in community buildings for villagers returning from outside. About 20 per cent of the amount will be spent on publicity for protection from Covid, sanitisation and other works related to the pandemic.

Rawat said that success will be achieved in the fight against Covid with the works done by Panchayat representatives and villagers. The CM further said that the aim of Digital India is to make information available to the public online about government services, encouraging e-governance at the Gram Panchayat level and linking all Gram Panchayats with broadband internet. Considering this, the State’s Panchayati Raj department under the directions of the state government had linked the bank accounts of all the Gram Panchayats, block Panchayats and district Panchayats in the state to PFMS through the e-Gram Swaraj portal, said Rawat.

The CM’s principal advisor RBS Rawat, secretary and director of Panchayati Raj HC Semwal and other officials concerned were also present on the occasion.
