CM directs formation of bridge cell in PWD
In order to expedite the construction of bridges, especially in the mountainous regions, chief minister Trivendra Singh Rawat directed that the bridge cell be formed in the Public Works Department. He said this while chairing a meeting to review the execution of his announcements regarding Almora and Nainital districts.
Rawat said that considering the problems being faced in finding space for parking in mountainous areas, the district magistrates should find a solution for this problem. Available space should be used properly. He further said that special focus should be laid on furniture, computers and other basic facilities in all schools. The construction of new Anganwadi centres in the state should also be expedited. Directing the Public Works Department to speed up construction of bridges, he directed that a bridge cell be formed in the department for this purpose. Considering the coming summer season, the execution of announcements related to drinking water should be completed soon, he said.
Officials informed in the meeting that the execution of 102 out of 164 announcements had been completed in Almora district while execution of 95 out of 147 announcements had been completed in Nainital district.
Reviewing the works done in Almora, the CM directed officials works related to reorganisation of handpump and drinking water lines of the department should be expedited. Work should be undertaken in a planned manner for beautification of temples, religious sites and to boost ecotourism activities.While reviewing works in Nainital district, Rawat stressed that special attention be given to water conservation and water culture. Special focus should also be laid on revival of rivers and beautification of lakes. He directed that land should be identified soon for construction of a hostel for children of soldiers in Haldwani. State minister Rekha Arya, MLAs concerned and additional chief secretary Radha Raturi along with other officials concerned were also present in the meeting.
