CM directs officers to make efforts to increase revenue collections

Chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has directed the departments to study the best practices of other States for increasing the revenue collection of the State. He was addressing a meeting held to review the status of revenue receipts at the State secretariat on Monday.
In the meeting the CM said that all possible efforts should be made by the departments to get more revenue than the target. He directed the officers that deep introspection should be done by the departments where less revenue is being obtained than the target. He said that amendments in policies should be done wherever needed to meet the revenue targets. On a stern note the CM directed the officers that the meeting for revenue targets in the next financial year should be held in the month of April. In the meeting all the departments would present their plans to meet the targets. Dhami directed the secretaries of the departments where the revenue receipts are less than target that they should put in more efforts to achieve their respective targets.
The CM said that special effort to increase revenue receipts is needed in the power, mining and forest departments and directed the secretaries concerned to undertake regular review meetings of the departments regarding this. He said that the secretaries concerned should have to find solutions for the problems which are hindering revenue collections. The CM added that the departments should focus more on the online system for increasing revenue as it is easy for everyone and makes the system transparent.
The officials said that the situation of revenue collections vis a vis the targets is good in the SGST, non GST, stamp and registration fee, transport and excise duty. These are all the major sources of revenue. More efforts are needed in the forest, power and mining departments.
