CM directs officers to prepare action plan for Fit Uttarakhand campaign in 15 days

Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has directed the State administration to prepare a comprehensive action plan within next 15 days for the ‘Fit Uttarakhand campaign’. He said that the Sports, Health, AYUSH, Food Safety, Education and Higher Education departments should work in coordination to prepare the action plan.

The CM gave the orders while reviewing the Fit Uttarakhand campaign under the Fit India Movement at the State secretariat on Wednesday.

He said that the campaign should be held every month at both the State and district level. The CM said that the message of reducing sugar, salt and oil in small quantities in diet should be conveyed to the general public.  He added that apart from schools, colleges and universities, the Fit Uttarakhand campaign should be carried out on a large scale at the village level. Regular health camps should be organized in schools and colleges.

The CM said that a healthy mind is necessary for a healthy body, therefore people should be made aware to remain healthy mentally also.  He said that the Fit Uttarakhand campaign should also be included in the State’s silver jubilee calendar. “People should be made aware about proper eating habits, regular health checkups and physical activities. Youth and Mahila Mangal Dals should be included to take the Fit Uttarakhand campaign to village level,’’ he said.

During the meeting of the legacy plan of the Sports department, the CM said that the sports infrastructure built in the State should be regularly used for sports. He said that the talented players should be encouraged to participate in the upcoming sports competitions to be held at the national and international level. A sustainable sports eco-system should be developed to encourage sports activities among the local youth, he said. 

It was informed in the meeting that world class and high quality training centres are being developed for better training of the youth of the state. The state has a total of 28 multipurpose halls, 52 small and big stadiums, 155 playgrounds and halls, one shooting range, five athletic tracks, one mountaineering centre, one lawn ball ground, five astro turfs, one  velodrome, one adventure training institute whose infrastructure is being planned in legacy manner. 

Chief secretary Anand Bardhan, principal secretary RK Sudhanshu, special principal secretary Amit Sinha, secretaries Shailesh Bagoli, Ravinath Raman, Ranjit Sinha, R Rajesh Kumar and director Sports Prashant Arya attended the meeting.
