CM exhorts youths to exercise franchise in elections

Chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has exhorted the youths to exercise their franchise in the elections. He was addressing a conclave of new voters at the Roorkee College of Engineering on Thursday.
Speaking on the occasion, the chief minister said that voters play a crucial role in strengthening democracy. Addressing the youths, he said that the first-time voters should exercise their franchise and also encourage others to vote in the elections. The chief minister further said that the youths will play an important role in ensuring that the commitment of Viksit Bharat is fulfilled. He said that the youngsters who have attained the voting age should register themselves to exercise their right to vote. The increasing turnout in elections indicates that the people are getting increasingly aware about using their voting rights, Dhami pointed out.
Stating that the Election Commission consistently undertakes awareness campaigns to encourage the citizens to vote, the chief minister said that the youths should also conduct such awareness campaigns in schools, colleges, other educational institutions and various areas to enlighten the youngsters and other citizens about the power of their vote. The local MLA Pradeep Batra and others were also present on the occasion.
